Fun on the Job

5/6/15

Hello everyone! As I mentioned last post I had a little surprised in which I revealed that I am basically blonde now. This was all due to a recent job I was hired for. Now I know you might be wondering, "What job?" or "Why would you dye your hair for a job?" the answer to that is that I am a model. I had shared this with you all a couple of posts ago but as I officially got signed under the company I work for, I ended up getting my job no less than two weeks after.

Anyways, enough technical talk. I know you all wanna know what I ACTUALLY  did. So I was lucky enough to be hired as a model for Denis de Souza and Sergio Garcia. Denis is a celebrity hairstylist from California who has started to teach classes to hair dressers so that they learn his technique and the trend he created: The Sombre.

This was basically a two day job, I got hired on Sunday and on the same day they prepped my hair (cut it, blow dry it and style) for the next day along with two other models I was with.

On Monday we got our makeup done, got dressed and our gorgeous little black dresses from Zara were provided by the director. As the day went on I was the live demo model which meant that Denis de Souza would be talking and doing my hair as a demonstration to the hair stylists that came to learn.

My hair slowly went from dark brown to a caramel color and then at then end it had the full Sombre effect. I worked all day and my mom was too happy to be by my side all day so I had to take a picture of her backstage ( Isn't she adorable??).

As I said before I was the live demo so here's a shot of them doing my hair.

At the very end I had an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction just because everything turned out great and all the hair stylists that were there were pleased to have seen the demo so I felt happy for Denis and Sergio who shared their talent successfully.

And of course we took group pictures for Joico (Hair company we worked for) as well as for everyone to see. If you all want to check out other pictures follow @DenisdeSouza on Instagram or @Joico to see the picture above.

I'm happy I'm able to share my experiences with you all and I can't wait for many more I'll be able to share.

Until next time,
Val

Originality is Key

1/25/15

Hello everyone, today I just wanted to take a different road with what I post and kind of just sit back and talk. After all, the way I designed my blog was for me to able to give you guys tips and ideas towards fashion and health but as you are able to see; I've also have posted about events in my life and my thoughts. I really want to stick to the idea of being able to share my thoughts with you since in the end, I love to write.

Anyways, for today's post I thought I could share my opinion on originality. In my  mind I believe that originality is one of the key factors to success. Uncreative writing, in my opinion leads nowhere. What is the point of taking someone's writing and posting or saying it as yours. My goal with this blog is to reach out to as many people as I can and let you know that you don't have to be like anyone else. To be “original” doesn’t mean producing something totally new, something that hasn’t been expressed before. To be original is to produce something that’s present in everyone, but which no one else would’ve thought of expressing in just that way because no one else is you.
I live by all these quotes because they inspire me every day to just be myself and they should do the same for you.
And remember:
The more powerful and original a mind, the more it will incline toward the religion of solitude.
—  Aldous Huxley

I hope this inspired a lot of you because it sure inspires me to be original. Check out my last post to see and outfit of the day and stay tuned for a recap on what I have been up to.

Until next time,
Val
